Vancouver is an absolute treasure trove of dining. The diversity in cultures creates an unbeatable food scene and is one of the best things about Vancouver. Luckily for us here at CIRA College, we have some of these wonderful eats right next door! Check out this list to change up your Tim Horton’s and Starbucks routine. Every option is within a 10-minute walking distance!

Brunch + Lunch

Coming all the way from Japan to grace us with two Vancouver locations, Santouka Ramen is a highlight of the Vancouver Ramen scene. With delicious classics and fun features, this is the spot to go when you need a bit of a warm-up.

A genuinely incredible local eatery, Meat and Bread, opened their doors in 2010 and now have 5 locations, including one in Calgary! We’re lucky enough to have one of those locations just down the street. Their specialty is their Porchetta Sandwich, but their Grilled Cheese is an excellent option for vegetarians!

A great healthy option, Tractor has made its presence known all over Vancouver. Stop in for a healthy bowl, or take a wrap to go! You can even order online to speed up the process.

Much more brunch than lunch, Yolk’s is one of the most consistently delicious brunch places in Vancouver. Their lemon truffle potatoes are a must-have, and the fresh fruit salad they serve is such a treat. And of course, the bennies are out of this world!

Midday Snacks + Happy Hour

Have you ever seen those big gorgeous fluffy Japanese pancakes scrolling through your Instagram feed? It no longer has to be just a dream! Fufu cafe is serving up stacks just a few blocks away from campus. The perfect spot for a midday snack and study!

When you think happy hour, you might not think Japanese Barbeque – but that’s where you’re wrong. Gyu-Kaku’s Happy Hour Deals are great – and grilling your own food is always fun!

Dinnertime

Want to have a variety of Southeast Asian food without breaking the bank? Banana Leaf is the place to go! With rotating daily specials and a 25$ tasting menu, you can try so many different dishes.

Opening hours: 3pm – 9pm.

With a staff representing the Carrier-Sekani, Haida, Long Plain, Muskoday, Nuxalk, Ojibway, Pinaymootang, Quw’utsun, Squamish and Tsimshian nations, Salmon n Bannock is a must-try. As Vancouver’s only Indigenous-owned and operated restaurant, they use authentic flavours and organic wild-caught ingredients to create their incredible dishes.

Though Tojo’s may be a little more expensive than most of the options on this list, trying Tojo’s out is a must while you’re in Vancouver. The creator of the California Roll and the BC Roll, Chef Tojo, has been making a mark on the city for years. Tojo’s continues to innovate, and we’re so lucky to have such a fantastic spot so close!
